Ownership
Your brand, your Stripe, your customers
Your brand
Hunters book on your website, on your own domain, under your name. Every page we write and every review we earn builds your outfit, not a platform's.
Your Stripe
Deposits, balances and refunds go straight into your own Stripe account. Card processing is Stripe's standard rate, and you decide who covers it.
Your customers
Your hunters, waivers, licenses and booking history live in your own HuntReserve account. Your reviews and repeat business build your brand, not ours.
Switching guide
Why outfitters move from HuntDocs to HuntReserve, what they gain, what carries over and what to plan for. Every HuntDocs detail here was taken from the HuntDocs site on October 22, 2026.
Why are outfitters searching for a HuntDocs alternative?
Most outfitters start looking for a HuntDocs alternative when paperwork stops being the problem and empty dates become the problem. HuntDocs is built around getting a group's documents in order, and it does that well. What it doesn't list on its site is a custom website, a marketing team, or a booking fee policy, because filling the calendar isn't what it's for.
That leaves the outfitter running two or three more things beside it: a website someone else built years ago, a Facebook page, maybe an ads account that nobody has opened since last spring. Each one is a separate login, a separate bill and a separate person to call.
HuntReserve puts those pieces under one monthly price. The booking page, the waivers, the payments and the website live in one system, and on Full Draw and Trophy Class a marketing team works the search and ads side for you. If you've been thinking of your paperwork tool and your marketing as two separate problems, that's usually the moment a HuntDocs alternative starts to make sense.
What do you get with a HuntDocs alternative like HuntReserve?
You get the paperwork side plus the tools that bring in and protect bookings. The rows below are the ones where HuntDocs' own site says nothing, or lists a narrower version:
- A custom website, built on your domain, in every package: 5, 10 or 25 pages. HuntDocs: not listed on their site.
- A marketing team from Full Draw ($329/mo): local SEO, visibility in AI answers, Google and Meta ad management, a monthly article and Google Business Profile management. HuntDocs: not listed on their site.
- Approve hunters before they book, with a one-time code for each approved hunter. HuntDocs lists an outfitter-sent booking package.
- License scan with a name match against the waiver signature. HuntDocs: not listed on their site.
- Tags logged per hunter, and state harvest reports that come pre-filled and timed against the deadline, for you to send in. HuntDocs lists a harvest log.
- A waitlist that offers a cancelled spot to the next hunter in line, who then has a day to grab it. HuntDocs: not listed on their site.
- Club and lease memberships with dues tracking and a ledger per member. HuntDocs: not listed on their site.
HuntReserve also includes a public booking page with a Book button for your site, AI quote drafts you edit before sending, tracking for capes, hides and meat through the processor, field conditions with USGS river gauges, and post-hunt feedback with trophy photos, sent to your Google listing. The full list is on the features page.
What stays the same when you switch from HuntDocs?
The group paperwork habits your hunters already know carry straight over. On HuntDocs, one organizer collects the party's paperwork, and each party member registers. On HuntReserve, the lead hunter shares a link and every hunter fills in their own registration, e-signs your waiver and adds a photo of their license. Same idea, so your returning groups won't need retraining.
Several other things line up too, according to HuntDocs' site:
- Guardian signing for minors: both have it. On HuntReserve, the guardian's signature sits on the minor's own waiver.
- Offline waivers: HuntDocs lists waivers that sign offline; HuntReserve's Camp Mode keeps collecting signatures and license pictures on a tablet in camp, then syncs.
- Split payments: HuntDocs lists split invoices and deposits; HuntReserve has optional per-hunter payment links plus deposits and automatic balance invoices.
- Lodging: both list it. HuntReserve tracks units and beds and shows occupancy night by night.
- QuickBooks: both list it. HuntReserve pushes your money records into QuickBooks Online automatically.
Neither runs as a native phone app: HuntDocs lists browser only, and HuntReserve works in the phone's browser. So the way you and your guides use it on a phone at camp doesn't change either.
Is a HuntDocs alternative worth the higher monthly price?
It is if the website and marketing are what you're after. HuntDocs lists $125 a month or $1,250 a year, and that's a fair price for what it covers. HuntReserve starts at $159 a month, so on the software alone HuntDocs costs less.
The difference is what the extra buys. Opening Day ($159) pairs a website of up to five pages with call and form tracking and a monthly report, and charges 2% on online card bookings. Full Draw ($329) adds the marketing team and drops the booking fee to 0%. Trophy Class ($899) is fully done for you, with a 25-page site, social posting and one strategist assigned to you. The cost table further down this page lays the published prices side by side.
Two smaller cost points to know. HuntReserve card payments clear through your own Stripe at Stripe's normal rate, and you choose whether to pass that fee to hunters (see Stripe's published rates). Ad spend, if you run ads, is paid straight to Google and Meta. HuntDocs' booking fee policy is not listed on their site, so check with them when you compare totals.
How does switching to a HuntDocs alternative work?
Our team handles the move alongside you. The switching section on this page covers the steps; in short, we import your customer list, rebuild your hunts and packages, load your waiver and payment rules, and walk you through it on a call using your own hunts.
Timing matters more than effort. The cleanest switch is between seasons: new bookings go into HuntReserve, and hunts already booked in HuntDocs finish there. Before you close your old account, download copies of the signed waivers and records you want to keep. If you're mid-season, the same split works, it just takes a little more attention for a few weeks.
Your hunters notice two changes: a booking page on your own site instead of a link elsewhere, and, if you turn it on, their own payment link. Everything else feels familiar.
Which HuntDocs alternative fits your outfit?
It depends on what you want the next tool to do. If a marketplace sending you hunters is the goal, Mallard Bay does that and HuntReserve doesn't. If you run high-volume tours or rentals, a tour-booking platform such as FareHarbor is built for that. If you want your own site to rank, your own Stripe to collect, and a team to run the ads, HuntReserve is the HuntDocs alternative designed for exactly that.
And if your bookings are already full and you mainly need paperwork for groups at the lowest flat price, staying on HuntDocs is a reasonable call. The comparison is about what you need next, not which tool is bad. For a wider view across every type of outfit, see the hunting outfitter software overview.

Questions
Questions from outfitters switching from HuntDocs
Can I move my waivers and customer list from HuntDocs?
Yes for the customer list and your waiver text. We import your customers into HuntReserve and load your waiver so new hunters sign it on screen. Download copies of past signed waivers from your old account before you close it, so your records stay complete.
Is HuntReserve worth the higher monthly price?
If you want more bookings, usually yes. HuntDocs lists $125 a month; HuntReserve starts at $159 with a custom website, and Full Draw at $329 adds a marketing team and a 0% booking fee. If you only need group paperwork, HuntDocs costs less.
Can I switch to a HuntDocs alternative mid-season?
Yes. Put new bookings into HuntReserve and let hunts already booked finish in HuntDocs. After a few weeks everything runs in one place. Most outfitters find the off-season easier, but it isn't required.
Will my hunters have to learn something new?
Not much. The lead hunter still shares a link, and each hunter registers, signs and uploads a license from their phone. The new parts are your own booking page and, if you turn it on, a personal payment link for each hunter.
Does HuntReserve work offline like HuntDocs?
Yes. HuntDocs lists offline waivers, and HuntReserve does the same through Camp Mode: prep a tablet while it's online, then sign hunters in at the cabin with no bars. Uploads happen on their own once the connection comes back.
Does HuntReserve connect to QuickBooks like HuntDocs?
Yes. It syncs to QuickBooks Online on its own: customer records, invoices, payments, refunds and expenses all go across. A built-in profit and loss view also breaks results out per hunt.
How do I get started with HuntReserve?
Request a call. We phone you, show HuntReserve running your actual hunts, suggest a package and handle setup, customer import included. That call is the best way to see whether it fits.
